About

A Little Light Reading

At 33, I’m taking an 18-month sabbatical from my job as a public school English and Social Studies teacher to read and think. My goal for this dinky little blog is for it to be a space where I can share what I come across that most inspires me and provide some record of those moments of awe I encounter during my months of research. I have no idea what I will find, but I trust that it will not be in vain. I take my cues in this from my dear Wendell Berry, who once wrote that “the world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles, no matter how long, but only by a spiritual journey, a journey of one inch, very arduous and humbling and joyful, by which we arrive at the ground at our feet, and learn to be at home.” That’s the sort of journey I’m embarking upon and most interested in here. I hope you’ll join me along the way.
